Panic Disorder - figure it out

Review by Meghan Kearney

Boca Raton, FL’s own Panic Disorder rock south Florida’s local scene with their August 2008 release figure it out. With a harder, classic rock sound figure it out is a record filled with energized and fun lyrics.

The album opens with the track “Sunshine” showing off the Phil’s fast drums and catchy sounds. Lead singer Danny fronts the song with his enjoyably rough vocals that resemble something of the New York City punk scene circa CBGB days.

The humorous song “Gamer” tells the story of a failing relationship due to an online gaming addiction. The heavy bass played by Eric in this song can easily be mistaken for something from Rancid’s Matt Freeman.

As the album continues, the song “I Don’t Wanna” brings a slightly more poppy sound to the album. Fronted by Danny’s sharp guitar, this track stands as one of the catchiest on figure it out.

As the album closes, Panic Disorder brings us a cover of Johnny Cashes own “Folsom Prison Blues.” The boys do a superb job of living up to the originals reputation, and as a closer to the album testifies to the unique sound the band brings to its audience.

Steering clear of the industry’s overflow of pop/punk sounds, Danny, Eric and Phil do a solid job of sticking with the roots of Rock N’ Roll.
